Zoofari Mailer

A Piece People Have a Hard Time Letting Go

A Mailer That Comes to Life

Zoofari was an annual event hosted by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium that supports the zoo’s education programs. For this project, I wanted to create an invitation that felt just as exciting and immersive as the event itself while still being practical enough to mail.

I designed a layered pop-up mailer that could fold neatly into an envelope while maintaining the event’s visual identity and brand recognition. The goal was to create something that would catch a recipient’s attention and feel worth holding onto rather than becoming another piece of mail to throw away.

The design brings together the event’s atmosphere, the Columbus skyline, and an animal habitat into a layered scene that comes to life as the invitation is opened. Details like the wine glass and seal tie back to the event experience while giving the piece a sense of occasion.

The result was a unique invitation that pushed me to think beyond a traditional flat mailer and explore how design can become an experience in itself.
